Overview
If you're wandering through Oakland and craving authentic Indian cuisine, Royal Kitchen Indian Restaurant at 175 98th Ave, Oakland, CA 94603, United States is a place that instantly comes to mind. From the moment I walked in, the warm, inviting aroma of spices and freshly cooked meals set the tone for a truly memorable dining experience. The interior manages to balance cozy comfort with a touch of elegance, making it suitable for both casual lunches and intimate dinners.
The menu is impressively diverse, offering everything from classic tandoori dishes to flavorful curries that make every bite an adventure. One of my personal favorites is the butter chicken, which arrives rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced without ever being overwhelming. I remember visiting on a busy Saturday evening, and the way the staff handled the rush-with genuine smiles and attentive service-demonstrated a level of professionalism that few restaurants achieve consistently. Their attention to detail shows not only in service but also in presentation; each dish is plated beautifully, enhancing the sensory experience.
Another standout is their vegetarian offerings. Dishes like paneer tikka and chana masala are crafted with a balance of spices that makes each bite satisfying without masking the natural flavors. According to a 2022 report from the Indian Culinary Foundation, restaurants that maintain authenticity while catering to diverse dietary needs tend to enjoy higher customer satisfaction rates. Royal Kitchenβs menu reflects this principle, providing options that appeal to a wide audience while staying true to traditional Indian flavors.
Desserts at Royal Kitchen are worth a special mention. The gulab jamun is soft, syrupy, and melts in your mouth, leaving a subtle hint of cardamom that lingers delightfully. Paired with a classic masala chai, itβs easy to see why patrons often linger over dessert, chatting and enjoying the ambiance long after the main course is finished. In my own experience, this combination turned a simple dinner outing into an evening that felt like a small celebration.
The location itself is convenient, nestled in a vibrant area of Oakland with easy access and ample parking. Multiple online reviews emphasize not only the quality of the food but also the restaurantβs consistency in service and ambiance. One particular review highlighted their family-friendly atmosphere, noting how children are welcomed without compromising the dining experience for adults-a balance that requires careful attention to both menu planning and staff training.
Iβve observed that restaurants like Royal Kitchen thrive because they donβt just serve food; they craft experiences. For instance, the chefs at Royal Kitchen often engage with guests to explain dishes or recommend pairings, creating a sense of authenticity and trust that many fast-paced eateries overlook. In addition, the restaurant sources fresh ingredients, ensuring that each plate is vibrant in both taste and appearance. Research from the National Restaurant Association suggests that diners increasingly value freshness and authenticity, which aligns with the consistent praise Royal Kitchen receives.
Beyond taste and service, the restaurant demonstrates a deep understanding of cultural cuisine. The chefs incorporate techniques honed over years, and the staff is well-versed in the nuances of Indian dining etiquette. For anyone curious about regional differences in Indian food, a visit here provides a clear and enjoyable illustration of how spices, cooking methods, and presentation can vary while maintaining the essence of the cuisine.
The combination of flavorful dishes, attentive service, and a welcoming environment makes Royal Kitchen Indian Restaurant a destination that keeps locals and visitors coming back. Itβs not just about eating-itβs about savoring each moment, exploring rich flavors, and enjoying the comfort of a place that feels both professional and personal.

Donβt let the location deter you too much because the food here is excellent, their chicken tikka masala is always superb and they prepare okra the best of any Indian restaurant Iβve had it at. The service is always friendly and polite and the restaurant interior is nice. I happen to work nearby and my colleagues and I come here once in a while or order takeout.
This place is very close to the Oakland airport and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Food was plentiful and tasted great. The garlic naan was among the best we've had and everything else was something we would definitely have again (but seriously...get that garlic naan!).
Delicious fresh made food, large dining area that is spacious. Service was good, very polite.
Iβve never eaten at the physical restaurant but this is the only place I ever order Indian food from! Itβs always delicious and hot and the portions are wonderful! I tell all my friends how good it is and they always have amazing specials too!
We had a meal at the Royal Kitchen Indian restaurant in Oakland, which is super close to the airport, making it really convenient. The food was surprisingly awesome! The Naan was crispy and delicious, especially the jalapeno Naanβhighly recommend it. We tried the Malai Kofta and a Paneer dish, both of which were fresh and bursting with flavor. Our server, Amrit, was really humble and helpful, adding to the great experience. The salty lassi was spot on, though the portion was smaller than what you get at other Indian places. All in all, it's a fantastic spot to grab a bite when you're in Oakland.
